Located in the capital city of Heraklion, the Historical Museum of Crete chronicles Cretan life from Byzantine era  to the Modern period. Despite the museum’s relatively small size there is lots to see and learn. The museum is open Monday through Saturday  from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April to October while in the winter it closes at 3.30 p.m. Kids younger than 12 get in free and the admission for adults is roughly 5.00€. For more information, visit the museum’s website. If you are interested for even older stuff, check out the Heraklion Archaeological Museum which is located nearby.
